2 Narritive Theories

Claude Levi-Strauss
This person had an idea about a protagonist vs antagonist in their film, this would be called Binary Oppositions. An example of this code being used would be Good vs Evil in Batman The Dark Night, Batman will be the good character and the Joker will be the evil character. The main meaning of this narrative code was to have the elements of Opposite Forces.

Another example of the code Levi-Strauss in a film would be Spiderman, the reason for this is because this film has the good vs evil technique. This can be shown when Spiderman has to fight either his friend or someone that was very close to his father. This has been shown throughout the whole film by the use of the colours, for example Spiderman is red and white and the evil person is green to represent an alien.

Vladimir Propp
This narrative code is based on a simple storyline that is mainly used in fairy tales but has also been in many modern films that follows specific order. The order goes:
- The Hero
- The Villain
- The donor
- The Dispatcher
- The False Hero
- The Helper
- The Princess
- Her Father

This can be represented in a modern film called "Harry Potter". This franchise follows the type of character codes in this film. For example the following roles will be:
- Hero = Harry Potter
- Villain = Voldemort
- Donor = Dumbledore
- Dispatcher = Dumbledore
- False Hero = Draco Malfoy
- Helpers = Ron & Hermione
- Princess = Ginny

The hero (Harry Potter) is shown throughout the film by using bright colours such as red and light to suggest that he is the hero however, the villain (Voldemort) is shown by using black/dark colours to suggest he is evil.

The following code for Vladimir Propp is very simple and is in many modern day films and fairy tales.
