3 Trailer Reviews

Inception:
This is a Thriller / Crime film as it adds the effect of mind games and mystery. The  audience that this is aimed for is mainly for the young teenage people or middle aged people as there is a lot of action and mystery in this trailer.

Camera
The camera techniques they use at the beginning of the film is to first to a frame picture of the whole scene the to zoom in to do a close up on the object in hand to make it the centre picture. After the intro it starts to do a panning view of the main story line to try and engage the audience. Throughout the trailer they seem to do a lot of focus on the characters in the film to centre them to show who the main characters are. In the angles they have tried to make all the buildings look huge to show that their is a world of imagination to leave the film in a cliff hanger to make the audience wanting to go and see the film.

Editing
The use of editing in the intro is to try and leave the mystery behind the object spinning on the table to show it has a true meaning. The use of slow motion in this piece has been shown to add effect and to build up the thriller film to make the audience sit on the edge of their seats waiting in anticipation for the final effect to speed up to see what has happened. There are a few cuts in the trailer to separate the text from the film to tell the audience what the film it about in a few simple words.

Lighting & Colour
The use of colour and lighting in the trailer has been used to show happiness and amazement then to a dark cold place to show anger and crime that represents death. But how the trailer shows this is to start all bright but the further you go into the trailer the more dark and action the film becomes to show how they use different mind games using colour and deception.

Sound
The sound in this piece starts by a dramatic piece of music to show that there is a mystery element to the film. But the further you go into the film the more the music speeds up to add the effect of thriller type mystery. There is also a narrative to guide the audience to understand what the film is actually about and this also leaves many different cliff hangers since he never gives the answers and only asks the questions.

Mis-En-Scene
In this trailer there are many different Mis-En-scene as there are many different props used to show the creativity of mind games, for example there is a train at one point driving down the main road without any sort of train station or railway near by.

Trailer 2:

Jaws:
This film is a thriller/horror film as it has some cliff hangers trying to engage people but it is not gory enough to become a horror as there is no jump scares as much so it is a thriller type genre film. The audience that this is aimed at is for middle aged people because it is a very scary and has a lot of slow but intense parts in the trailer.

Camera
At the beginning of the trailer you start at the perspective of the shark to make the audience understand from the start what this thriller/horror film is actually about. They also include a frame of the main character by centring them so they fully understand who it is based around. In this trailer they also like to include a lot of panning to get a better view of other peoples reaction to a human eating shark.

Editing
The editing such as cuts are very simple in this trailer as it doesn't cut that much as they try and only include the most important elements of the film. At the end of the trailer you can see the credits and the name of the film JAWS however, you also see the name of the film 0.55 seconds in so when they see the name they will want to go and see it.

Lighting & Colour
The lighting & the colour are very basic but they main colour you see in this film is blue. The reason for this is because blue is seen as a nice calm colour but they represent blue as death as it is a pale/dark blue to emphasise they essence of lost.

Sound
The sound uses a narrator at the beginning explaining the trailer and throughout he narrates to try and really show the audience how scary this film could really be. They also use dramatic music when the shark has found it's prey to try and build up the emotions of the audience to make them wanting to see the film to know what has happened. At the end of the film the narrator says "JAWS... see it before you go swimming". Makes the audience think that swimming is now something to be afraid of when in the open sea and must see this film otherwise they could die from a Great White Shark.

Mis-En-Scene
The Mis-En-Scene in this piece would be the shark as a prop as they will need this to add the effects or mystery of what the shark actually looks like. Another type of prop they will need to use is the boat to try and catch the Great White Shark.

Trailer 3:
Pulp Fiction:
Pulp Fiction is a thriller/crime/drama type genre as it tries to confuse the audience with many different types of cliff hangers. The audience this is aimed for is for older type people as it gets very complicated throughout the trailer and the jokes are aimed for an older generation.

Camera
There are many different types of camera angles they use in this trailer, for example they have a shot where they only film someone's feet to add the essence of mystery to see who is behind the door. Another shot they film is a close up on the character to centre them to make sure the audience knows who the main stars of the show are.

Editing
The editing in this trailer has a lot of cuts under different categories for example LOYALTY or BETRAYAL to explain to the audience that the real film contains all these different incidents. They have also changed the order of the trailer so for example they have put the beginning of the film at the end and the middle of the film with all the action at the beginning to engage people into the trailer.

Lightning & Colours
The use of colours and lighting represents that it is set in the 90's and the lightning in the trailer is very clear as each scene has different colours and lights but you can match them together by red lights mean the same scene as before but just a different part.

Sound
The sound changes a lot in this trailer for example at first it is a good intro music to make the audience stop what they are doing and look at the trailer. When it comes to the categories the music changes to show that the specific part isn't action etc. Towards the end of the trailer a narrator starts to speak explaining why pulp fiction is a must see and then finally says the title of the film encase you look away and don't see it yourself.

Mis-En-Scene
There are a lot of Mis-En-Scene in this trailer as a lot of props where used to show/explain what is happening within the scene.
